Ambassador Muylle's visit to ISOLDE

Geert Muylle

On 7th February 2018, H.E. Mr Geert Muylle, permanent repesentative of Belgium to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva visited the ISOLDE facility and attended a presentation on the MEDICIS collaboration.

ISOLDE is a unique source of low-energy beams of radioactive nuclides, those with too many or too few neutrons to be stable. It allows the study of the vast territory of atomic nuclei, including the most exotic species.
Many Belgian institutes from all over the country (Brussels, Ghent, Geel, Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Mol) take part in the various experiments enabled by ISOLDE.

In addition to the visit of the ISOLDE experimental hall guided by Mrs. Hanne Heylen from KULeuven, a presentation on the new MEDICIS plaform was given by Mr. Roberto Formento from Advanced Accelerator Applications company.
MEDICIS, to which KULeuven also participates, produces many radioisotopes which are used for medical research. Many questions on these international collaborations were addressed.
