Education is one of the fundamental missions of CERN. As a center of technical and scientific excellency, the Laboratory offers various programmes and internship solutions in various domains such as physics, civil engineering, electronics, mechanics, electromechanics, computing, material engineering, electricity, administration etc.
CERN offers 5 internship programmes particularly tailored for young Belgian students.
These programmes offer a subsistence allowance and cover travel costs.
French and English are CERN's official languages, which is an advantage for Belgian students, who usually master one or both of these languages.
You therefore have no reason not to apply!
- Summer Students and CERN openlab Summer Students programmes are for undergraduate students in physics, engineering or computing who have completed, by the summer of attending, at least three years of full-time studies at university level or expecting to graduate in the summer of attending. The internship lasts from 8 to 13 weeks between June and September.
- Administrative Students programme is for undergraduate students in the administrative field who have completed at least 18 months of Bachelor or Masters studies. The internship lasts between 4 and 12 months.
- Technical Students programme is for undergraduate students in applied physics, engineering or computing who have completed at least 18 months of Bachelor or Masters studies. The internship lasts between 4 and 12 months.
- Doctoral Students programme is for young PhD students in applied physics, engineering or computing. The internship lasts between 6 and 36 months.
In all cases, selection is made one or two times a year by a selection committee. Candidates apply for a given programme by providing all personal details.
