Since its founding in 1920, the University Foundation has supported higher education and scientific research in Belgium. A visit to CERN and the surrounding region was organized in early February 2026 as part of the Foundation’s cultural activities. Around thirty participants from various academic disciplines across the country had the opportunity to discover CERN, the CMS experiment, the Synchrocyclotron, the Science Gateway, the accelerator control room, and the Neutrino Platform, and to attend two presentations on the laboratory by Jan Eysermans and on the infrastructures by Pieter Mattelaer
